First dance as a married couple at their intimate wedding in Roanoke, Virginia

From the second Danielle reached out to me about photographing their wedding I knew it was going to be a beautiful day. The way she talked about marrying her best friend in a small, intimate wedding setting was admirable.

Justin proposed on the deck of their AirBnb in the Great Smokey Mountains, in the middle of a winter wonderland. Danielle explained it as her literal dream proposal and she said yes to the love of her life surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Following this romantic winter proposal, they decided they wanted to share their vows amongst their closest friends and family. Danielle and Justin wanted to have their intimate wedding somewhere near where they grew up in Bedford, Virginia.

The two of them share their love for Jesus and enjoy cooking together or going out on the town. After 4 years of being together, they held their victorian, boho themed wedding day in the middle of May. Their color palette consisted of navy blue and pink with splashes of spring greenery throughout.

There’s something so special about intimate weddings such as this one. There were so many moments that brought me joy during their May wedding. Moments like their first dance in the rain while their closest loved ones watched from the balcony of the historic Avenel House balcony, Danielle’s niece trying on the wedding day heels, grandparents hugging the bride with so much pride in their eyes, and lastly the overwhelming amount of joy felt between the bride and groom on this intentional, intimate wedding day in Virginia.
